With polls showing growing contempt for DC's epic waste and mis-management, tension between the people of the States and the central government continue to escalate. This declaration from Texas President Governor Perry reveals how deep and wide the gulf has become:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry has made some of his strongest statements yet about the Obama Administration’s goals toward the state, telling 1200 WOAI’s Joe Pagliarulo that ‘this administration wants to hurt Texas.’ ...
Perry promised that he would use whatever resources the state can use to fight the federal government’s effort to impose federal clean air standards on the state, including using Tenth Amendment arguments that the U.S. government has no right to manage the state’s successful clean air operation.
“This administration is ready to hurt Texas and is ready to hurt the men and women who depend on those refining jobs just to make a point,” he said.
Perry also said the Obama Administration ‘doesn’t have the intellect’ to figure out how to protect the U.S. border with Mexico.
I think there's plenty of intellect in the Obama Administration. The problem is that its goals clash with the goals of the people of Texas, and with most other Americans. Look at growing popular opposition to deficit spending, socialized medicine, amnesty for illegal aliens, Wall Street bailouts, and continued war in Afghanistan.
Bottom line: Don't mess with Texas. And don't mess with Dixie.
