Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA): Border Is Secure

From Lou Dobbs:

Rep. Pete Stark: Borders are Secure

Jun-29-2010

Democrats are trying to catch Republicans making questionable statements in public. They should worry about their own, like Rep. Pete Stark, who mocked opponents of illegal immigration at a recent town hall.

California Congressman Pete Stark seems to covet controversy, constantly in trouble for quips and remarks that land him in hot water. And what else is new? On June 26th, Rep. Stark mocked an opponent of illegal immigration during a town hall meeting in his home district.

Stark began his sarcasm-laced assault by asking a self-identified Minuteman: "Who are you going to kill today?"

He continued: "We can't get enough Minutemen armed. We'd like to get all the Minutemen armed so they can stop shooting people here," Stark said.

When members of the audience pressed Stark to provide a serious answer, he said: "If you knew anything about our borders, you would know that's not the case. Our borders are quite secure, thank you."

But that's not even the half of it. Watch the video for yourself here:

As we saw last summer, Democratic Congressmen feel like they are too good to follow serious questions with serious answers. Are these elites too good for their constituents? They certainly seem to think they are.
