Gallery Erupts as Wisconsin Assembly Ends Debate and Passes Walker Budget Bill – Raw Video 2/25/11
from Freedom's Lighthouse by Brian
Here is raw video from the gallery of the Wisconsin State Assembly last night where Gov. Scott Walker’s Budget Repair Bill passed. Pro-Union Supporters erupted with boos and shouts of “Shame” when Democrats were told that debate was coming to an end so a vote could take place.
Debate had already gone on for 60 hours, and the Democrats were taken off guard by the move to end debate and vote. Some of them reportedly were not able to get there in time to vote.
The bill now moves to the Wisconsin Senate, where action on it is being blocked by the 14 Senate Democrats who fled the state to Illinois to prevent it from being taken up. Under the rules, one Democrat needs to be present for it to come up for a vote.
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: Wisconsin Republicans scored a small victory Friday morning in their fight with unions – as GOPers in the state assembly broke the Democrats’ filibuster and approved a bill that would take away the majority of public workers’ collective bargaining rights.
The biggest hurdle is yet to come, as the measure will now go to the Senate, where the minority Democrats have fled to Illinois in effort to boycott the measure. . .
