Unions, Democrats in Wisconsin Seem Dead-Set on Choosing Layoffs over Change – Video Report 2/24/11
Here is a good summary report on the situation in Wisconsin as it stands. It was done before the Wisconsin Assembly voted early this morning to pass Gov. Scott Walker’s Budget Repair Bill. But the rest of the report hits most of the main issues. It points out that Wisconsin State Troopers went out yesterday to the homes of the 14 renegade and absent Democrat State Senators who have fled the state to prevent the bill from being brought up in the State Senate. They found none.
Gov. Walker has made it clear that unless the bill is passed by Friday (today), the state will have to begin issuing layoff notices to some workers next week. These blindly pro-Union supporters just can’t accept that the state is broke and cannot continue on the path it has traveled in past decades that has resulted in this disaster. The choice is between radical changes or layoffs. It appears the Democrats are choosing layoffs to giving up some of the power of the public employee unions
