Obama Worried About Putting On A Turban To Visit Sikh Temple In India, Yet Will Visit One Of The World's largest Mosques In Indonesia

Obama worried about putting on turban for Sikh temple yet will visit one of the world’s largest mosques in Indonesia


As you probably know, Obama is headed out of the country next week right after the clubbing he takes in the mid term elections. He will be visiting but India (where for the first time in the country’s history, a teleprompter will be used at the Parliament building). He was invited to visit a Sikh temple while in India which requires a Sikh turban to be worn. Obama canceled the trip to the Sikh temple because “he was afraid of be labeled a Muslim.” Ok, I guess that’s fair. But how does one explain that he now plans to visit one of the world’s largest mosques when he goes to Indonesia?





Obama will visit one of the world’s largest mosques when he makes good on a long-delayed promise to visit Indonesia, the island nation where he lived briefly as a child.



The president will visit Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta — the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and the third largest Muslim house of worship in the world — during his swing through the country Nov. 9-10. Islam is the dominant religion in populous Indonesia, making it the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation.



White House national security aide Ben Rhodes said the visit is standard protocol for Obama, who visited the famed Blue Mosque while on a visit to Turkey shortly after his inauguration. “When he visited Muslim-majority countries as president, he has often visited the most prominent mosques,” Rhodes said.
