President Obama insults Beck rally attendees
Neil Braithwaite
After watching the "Restoring Honor Rally" this past Saturday and observing how the media portrayed the event, my conclusion is that they couldn't be more wrong. There has probably not been a more respectful, peaceful and well-mannered crowd of that size assembled in Washington DC in quite a long time
And for the President of the United States to imply any negative connotations to the event, or its organizers, is far and away the biggest insult to not only the hundreds of thousands of Americans who attended the event, but to every American who agreed with what the event stood for: faith, hope and charity.
When asked by Brian Williams about the 8/28 Rally, President Obama said, "It's not surprising that somebody like a Mr. Beck is able to stir up a certain portion of the country."
"Stir up?" Is that really how President Obama feels about the crowd at the event? That they were no more than a "stirred up" mob of people led by a fanatical leader bent on pushing some sort of activist political agenda?
Has the president ever seen an environmental rally before? Or how about an anti-war/Bush rally? Or for that matter, any political rally led by the left?
With all due respect Mr. President, anyone with a modicum of intelligence who observed the 8/28 Rally this past Saturday in Washington DC would have to come to the same conclusions that not only I, but hundreds of thousands of Americans came to.
That Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor Rally" was an absolute marvel of the American spirit - anchored by nothing more than faith, hope and charity. And anyone who couldn't see that is obviously bent on "stirring up" support for his or her own activist political agenda.
