Jindal: Obama Told Him That If Moratorium Costs Jobs, People Can File A Claim With BP

from Freedom's Lighthouse:

Jindal: Obama Told Him if Moratorium Costs Jobs, People “Can File a BP Claim” – Video

Here is video of Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal blasting President Obama’s offshore deepwater drilling moratorium, saying it is “bad for our security” and “bad for our economy.”

Jindal said President Obama actually said to him in person during one of his trips to the Gulf Region, that if people in Louisiana lose their jobs because of the moratorium – “they can file a BP claim.” The audience gasped in disbelief when Jindal revealed Obama had said that.

In response, Jindal said he told the President, “With all due respect, what if BP doesn’t pay?” Obama said, “Don’t worry, Governor, they can file an unemployment claim.”

Jindal said he told Obama, “With all due respect, Mr. President, our people don’t want a BP check or an unemployment check – we want to go back to work.” That is a concept Obama simply cannot fathom.

Jindal said they simply “don’t understand in Washington D.C.” He has been told by Obama officials “the rigs will come back.” But Jindal said it costs $500,000 a day for those rigs, and they simply won’t wait out a six-month moratorium. He said two rigs have already left the Gulf region, and more will follow. It will cost 20,000 jobs in Louisiana alone, with thousands more to follow up and down the Gulf coast.

This is the best I have ever heard Bobby Jindal. Notice he is not speaking with a teleprompter. His disappointing performance giving the GOP response to Obama’s State of the Union in 2009 was largely because he was not free in his movements or speaking style. He looked and sounded like someone reading off a teleprompter. Jindal needs to always speak like this. He is very effective and forceful when he speaks more freely.
