Obama's Economic Advisor Is Now Pushing for a "Global Minimum Tax" |

One day after the White House released the President's $3.8 trillion budget for fiscal 2013, the head of the national economic council dropped a bomb on corporations. "We need a global minimum tax so that people have the assurance that nobody is escaping doing their fair share as part of a race to the bottom or having our tax code actually subsidized and facilitate people moving their funds to tax havens," Gene Sperling said. Sperling's comments quickly raised eyebrows and caused the White House to clarify the economic adviser's comments saying that he was referring to eliminating tax incentives for those who ship jobs overseas, not advocating for a U.N. imposed duty. We'll see if this was a simple slip of the tongue or a early leak of what the Obama administration has in store for American businesses. |
