The enormity of 52 million abortions in US since Roe
Dan Austin
We may be unable to understand the enormity of 52 million abortions in the U.S. since Roe vs. Wade. Big numbers like 52 million are hard to comprehend without a frame of reference. This should help.
Imagine 52 million babies, now grown to adulthood, standing in a line with their arms extended at shoulder height. Each person in the line is touching the person on the left and right at their fingertips. How long would the human chain be?
You could actually make the following three human chains with 52 million people. The first human chain could extend completely around the earth at the equator (24,901 miles). The second human chain could extend completely around the earth through the poles (24,859 miles). The third human chain could extend from Anchorage, Alaska to Miami, Florida (4001 miles) with enough people left over to extend 406 miles off the coast of Florida. The total distance covered by the three human chains would be 54,167 miles.
Thanks to the Internet, you can easily look up the numbers for yourself.
Number of babies aborted in the U.S. since Roe vs. Wade is 52 Million.
Average adult arm span correlates to average adult height, I'll use 5.5 feet.
Earth's circumference around the equator and poles is 24,901 miles and 24,859 miles, respectively.
Distance between any 2 cities can be found here.
Do the math on your calculator:
52,000,000 (people) multiplied by 5.5 (length of adult arm span, measured in feet) = 286,000,000 (length of the human chain, measured in feet)
286,000,000 (length of the human chain, measured in feet) divided by 5280 (number of feet in 1 mile) = 54,167 miles (length of the human chain, measured in miles)
24,901 (earth equator's circumference in miles) plus 24,859 (earth polar circumference in miles) plus 4001 (distance between Anchorage, Alaska and Miami, Florida in miles) plus 406 (extra miles) equals 54,167 (miles).
